Night F1 Race on Vegas Strip in 2023

LAS VEGAS: Liberty Media President and CEO Greg Maffei and F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali yesterday announced that the Las Vegas Grand Prix, a third F1 race in the United States of America, will be held in the Sin City, in November 2023.
But here’s the kicker – the newest Formula 1’s race will be held during the night so that viewers around the world can enjoy ‘The Craziest Circus’ taking place on the legendary Strip, basked in neon light.
“That’s going to be a pretty hardcore event”, said Lewis Hamilton (UK), seven-time F1 champion.
Back in 1981 and 1982 Las Vegas already hosted races, but never Formula 1 competition, and especially not during the night. The 3,8 miles (6,12 km) track will pass next to the most iconic Las Vegas’ landmarks, casinos, and hotels.
The track will feature a single chicane section, three straights, and a high-speed cornering sequence, with top speeds around 212 mp/h (342 km/h). It is expected that the race will last over 50 laps, and it will take place on Saturday evening, Vegas time, rather than Sunday afternoon.
“There is no better place for Formula 1 to race than in the global entertainment capital of the world and we cannot wait to be here next year. I want to thank everyone who helped deliver this event, especially Governor (Steve) Sisolak, the Clark County Commission, Steve Hill at the LVCVA, and our local partners”, said Stefano Domenicali.
