Chumba Casino is a social sweepstakes casino run by the VGW group, with its sweepstakes promotions operated by VGW Games Limited of Malta. You play casino-style games for fun with Gold Coins, which can be bought but never redeemed, and for prizes with free Sweeps Coins, which can be redeemed for cash or gift cards once you hold at least 100 eligible coins. Its Sweeps Rules (version 26.1, last updated 16 September 2026) set the minimum age at 21 and exclude 16 states from the sweepstakes.

Chumba has been around longer than almost any brand in this corner of the market, and it shows: the rules are long, precise and full of small print that decides when a prize is really yours. The Casino Bros crew went through VGW’s own rules, terms and pages so you get the facts with dates attached. No score, no deal, no code from us.

Who runs Chumba Casino?

Chumba sits inside the VGW group, which also runs LuckyLand Slots and Global Poker. The site footer names three roles. VGW Malta Limited owns and operates Chumba Casino and processes payments, either itself or through payment agents such as VGW Holdings Pty Ltd, VGW Malta Holding Limited, VGW Luckyland Inc and VGW Financial Services USA Inc. VGW Games Limited (company number C76814) runs the sweepstakes promotions and prizes, from Trident Park in Birkirkara, Malta.

The footer also says VGW Games Limited holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence, MGA/B2C/188/2010, issued on 1 August 2018, “to operate the promotional play games”. That licence is a Maltese one. Chumba holds no US state gaming licence, and none is needed for the sweepstakes model where a state allows it. Where a state does not, the model is simply unavailable, which is why the excluded list keeps growing. Our sweepstakes legal states guide tracks those laws with dates.

Legal pressure is real. On 19 August 2026 the Florida Attorney General sued VGW, alongside the operators of Stake.us, over Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker, as reported by Legal Sports Report the next day. Chumba was still open to Florida players on 25 October 2026, and its rules carry a Florida-only cap: no single spin or play can pay more than US$5,000 in Sweeps Coin prize value there.

How Chumba Casino works

Every account holds two balances. Gold Coins are for what the Terms call Standard Play. You get some free on sign-up and at regular intervals, you can win more, and you can buy more, but the Terms are blunt: “Gold Coins have no monetary value and cannot under any circumstance be redeemed for prizes.”

Sweeps Coins are the sweepstakes entries. You cannot buy them (“YOU CANNOT PURCHASE SWEEPS COINS”, in the Terms’ own capitals). They arrive free, either as a bonus with marked Gold Coin packs or through the no-cost methods below. Played in Promotional Play, they can win more Sweeps Coins, and each coin won through play can be redeemed for a prize worth US$1.

That last detail matters. Clause 4.4 of the Sweeps Rules says the US$1 value applies to coins won through game play, “rather than collected”. A free coin from the daily bonus has to be played before it becomes prize-eligible, which is the playthrough rule explained further down.

How to sign up at Chumba

  1. Check your state first. If you live in one of the 16 excluded states, you cannot enter the sweepstakes. On 25 October 2026 Chumba’s location page split them into states where the site is not available at all and states limited to Gold Coin play (table below).
  2. Register with email or Facebook. Chumba’s getting-started page describes both routes. The email route asks for first name, last name, email address and a password of at least 8 characters with letters and numbers.
  3. Use your legal name. Prize redemptions are only processed when your details match your verified Customer Account, so a nickname now causes trouble later.
  4. Confirm your email and phone. You click the CONFIRM EMAIL link, then enter a code sent by SMS to verify your phone number.
  5. Allow location access. The Terms let VGW check your precise geolocation, and the site asks you to enable location services to confirm you are in an authorised state.

You may hold only one Customer Account, including any inactive one. An account with no login or logout for 12 consecutive months counts as inactive and can be closed.

Welcome offer and promo codes

Chumba’s Terms say free Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins “may” be given on sign-up, and its new iPhone app (listed on the App Store on 14 October 2026) advertises a welcome bonus “packed with free Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins”. Neither page gives a fixed amount, so treat any number you see elsewhere as unconfirmed until it appears in your own account.

For buyers, a banner across chumbacasino.com pages on 25 October 2026 advertised an “exclusive first-time offer” of 10 million Gold Coins for $10 plus 30 free Sweeps Coins. The Sweeps Coins in that pack are a free bonus attached to the Gold Coin purchase, which is how the sweepstakes model works. The Sweeps Rules say the exact number of bonus Sweeps Coins is always shown in the purchase window, so check it there before paying. All Gold Coin purchases are final.

Casino Bros holds no Chumba promo code and has no deal with VGW. Chumba’s Terms also prohibit sharing “special offers or packages emailed to a specific set of Players”, so codes passed around on forums are a risk to your account, not a shortcut. If a genuine code exists, it will reach you from Chumba itself. For free-coin offers across brands, see our sweepstakes no deposit bonus guide.

Daily bonus and other free Sweeps Coins

Clause 3.2 of the Sweeps Rules lists four ways to collect Sweeps Coins:

  • Bonus with Gold Coin purchases of specifically marked packs, with the number stated in the purchase window.
  • Facebook giveaways. No-cost contests on the Chumba Casino Facebook page, where you may need to share a post or answer game questions.
  • The Daily Bonus. Sign in, click “GET COINS”, open the “Daily Bonus” tab and press “Claim”. It can be collected once per day, and the clock resets every 24 hours. VGW offers it “at our election”, so not every account is guaranteed it.
  • An online request, which is the free alternative method of entry described in the next section.

On top of the Daily Bonus, Chumba’s promotions page describes Chumba Wild Chests, a login-streak feature. Logging in on consecutive days earns Wooden, Jeweled and Majestic Chests, with the Majestic tier tied to day 28, while Celebration Chests appear during select promotions. Each chest can hold Gold Coins, Sweeps Coins or an entry into another chest. Miss a day and the streak resets to day 1. Chumba says the feature is rolling out gradually, so some accounts will not see it yet.

No-purchase entry: the online request (AMOE)

Chumba’s free entry route is unusual. Most rivals ask you to post a handwritten card; Chumba’s current rules use an online request that still involves handwriting. Under clause 3.2(d) you:

  1. Sign in and click the “Entry Request” link at the bottom of the platform screen or in the app.
  2. Complete the Entry Acknowledgment Form by writing your name, legibly and exactly as it appears on your verified account, then typing it to confirm.
  3. Pass a “human check” security step.
  4. Scratch the concealed area of the Entry Request Template to reveal unique wording.
  5. Handwrite that wording exactly, in black or blue pen, on a blank, unlined, unfolded 4″ x 6″ index card or white paper.
  6. Photograph the card with your device camera, aligned with the on-screen frame, with nothing else in the shot.
  7. If prompted, complete a “selfie check” photo or video.

Each valid request earns 5 Sweeps Coins. A working camera and granted device permissions are your responsibility. Chumba can change the number of coins allocated at its discretion, so check the current rules before you start.

A quick reality check on the maths: at 5 coins per request, reaching the 100-coin redemption minimum purely through free entries takes 20 valid requests, and the coins still need their playthrough. Free entry exists so that no purchase is ever required, not as a fast route to a prize.

Sweeps Coin playthrough and expiry

Clause 4.6 of the Sweeps Rules and clause 6.13 of the Terms set the playthrough. Unless Chumba requires otherwise, any Sweeps Coin allocated to you must be played once before it can be redeemed. Chumba “may, in its sole discretion” require a higher playthrough, but never more than 20 times, in any combination of Sweeps Coin games.

Here is how the default 1x works in practice. Say you collect 30 free Sweeps Coins with a purchase. You must stake 30 Sweeps Coins in total in Promotional Play before those coins count toward a prize. Whatever balance you hold after that, made up of coins won through play, is what counts toward the 100-coin threshold. If a promotion carries a higher multiple, 30 coins at 3x would need 90 coins staked.

Watch the clock as well. Sweeps Coins are valid for 60 days from the date you last logged in, and then expire automatically. They can also be forfeited if your account is closed for any reason.

Redeeming Sweeps Coins: minimums, methods and times

The rules are clear on the minimum: Chumba processes a prize redemption only when its value is US$100 or more, which means at least 100 eligible Sweeps Coins in your account before you click “Redeem”.

Rule What the Terms and Sweeps Rules say
Minimum 100 eligible Sweeps Coins (US$100)
Cash prizes Paid in USD to the payment medium you used to buy Gold Coins; if that is not technically possible, to a bank account you nominate that you legally own
Gift card prizes Sent to the email address registered on your account
Frequency One redemption request per account in any 24-hour period
Cash timing Up to 10 business days to reach your bank account
Large prizes Over US$10,000 may take up to 7 extra days and be paid in more than one lump sum
Limits Chumba may cap redemptions at US$10,000 per day; Florida cap of US$5,000 per spin or play
Fees Chumba reserves the right to charge processing fees; you bear any foreign exchange costs

Chumba does not publish a named list of e-wallets or gift card brands on its public pages. The method available to you is shown in the redemption flow, and VGW reserves the right to require the same method you used to buy Gold Coins. Prize redemptions are processed in the order received, and verification delays come on top of the stated times.

A worked example: you finish a session with 142 Sweeps Coins, all already played through once. You can request a US$142 cash prize. If your account is fully verified, the Terms allow up to 10 business days for the money to land, so a Monday request could arrive as late as the Friday of the following week. You could not submit a second request until 24 hours had passed.

Verification (KYC)

Chumba can run identification, credit and geolocation checks at any time, and any redemption stays pending until they are complete. Clause 9.3 of the Terms sets additional checks for any cumulative or single redemption above US$2,000, which may include:

  • photo identification such as a passport;
  • proof of address such as a utility bill;
  • source of wealth or source of funds documents such as a payslip or bank statement.

If you do not provide a requested document within 30 days, VGW can stop the check and close or restrict the account. Cash goes only to an account that is legally and beneficially yours, and joint accounts require both holders to pass checks. Getting verified before your first big win saves days later.

Where Chumba is not available

The Sweeps Rules (v26.1, 16 September 2026) define the Permitted Territories as the United States other than these 16 states. On 25 October 2026 Chumba’s own location page split them into two groups:

Status on Chumba’s location page (25 Oct 2026) States
Not available at all Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Washington
Gold Coin play only (no sweepstakes) California, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, West Virginia

Several of those reflect state laws that ban sweepstakes casinos, including California (1 January 2026), New York (5 December 2025), Indiana (1 July 2026), Maine (29 July 2026) and Louisiana (1 August 2026). Oklahoma’s ban takes effect on 1 November 2026; Chumba’s September rules did not yet name Oklahoma, so check the current rules if you live there. Our state-by-state guide keeps the full list current.

Outside those states, the minimum age is 21, or the age of majority in your state if that is higher. Using a VPN or any other way to hide your location breaches the Terms.

Games and providers

Chumba describes “hundreds” of casino-style games and leans on its own exclusives. The site menu on 25 October 2026 listed Slots, Live Casino, Bingo, Jackpots, Table Games, Solitaire, Instant Wins and Scratchcards. Its About page names house titles such as Stampede Fury and The Last Empress.

Chumba’s weekly chart for 12 October 2026 shows the mix: Spicy Supreme at number one, Stampede Fury 3 Supercharged at two, and several third-party 10K Ways titles from ReelPlay, including Big Bucks Bison 10K Ways and Atlantis 10K Ways. The live section uses real hosts; the App Store listing mentions live roulette and blackjack with hosts playing in real time. Chumba’s providers page does not list every studio by name, and some titles are switched off by state: the site noted from 3 September 2025 that it was removing some games in California.

Win rates and pay tables are shown in each game under “Win Table” or “Pay Table”, and the rules let Chumba change them, so check before you play.

Chumba apps

  • iPhone and iPad: “Chumba Casino: Games & Slots” from seller VGW Malta Limited, released on the App Store on 14 October 2026 (iOS 15.1 or later).
  • Chumba Lite: a separate, smaller free-to-play social game from VGW Holdings Pty Ltd on the App Store and Google Play. It is not the sweepstakes product.
  • Android: the Terms refer to an APK file for the Chumba app, installed outside Google Play when offered.
  • Browser: Chumba plays in desktop and mobile browsers with no download.

Beware lookalikes. Several Google Play listings use the Chumba name without being VGW products. Check that the developer is a VGW company before installing anything. Our mobile casinos guide covers app safety more broadly.

Support and responsible play tools

Chumba’s help centre at help.chumbacasino.com says its support crew is available 24/7 for live support, with a contact form for requests. The Terms add that you can take a break, self-exclude or close your account at any time, and set limits on Gold Coin purchases, on the amount of Sweeps Coins you play, or on time logged in. If you close your account over gameplay concerns, say so in the request.

If play stops being fun, the free, confidential US helpline is 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), run by the National Council on Problem Gambling. Our responsible gaming page lists more tools.

Who Chumba suits

Chumba fits players who want a big, established brand with its own exclusive slots and who are happy to collect toward a US$100 redemption. It suits less well anyone who plays mostly on free coins, since the high minimum and 5-coin free entry make cashing out slow without purchases, and it is out of reach entirely in the 16 excluded states. If you are in one of them, our social casinos guide covers free-play options with no prizes.

Chumba Casino FAQ

Is Chumba Casino legit?

Chumba is run by the VGW group: VGW Malta Limited owns the platform and VGW Games Limited of Malta runs the sweepstakes, under Malta Gaming Authority licence MGA/B2C/188/2010. It publishes versioned Sweeps Rules and Terms. It holds no US state gaming licence, so it is only open where state law allows sweepstakes, and the Florida Attorney General sued VGW on 19 August 2026.

What is the minimum redemption at Chumba?

100 eligible Sweeps Coins, worth US$100. Chumba will not process a prize redemption below that, whether you choose cash or a gift card.

How long do Chumba redemptions take?

The Terms allow up to 10 business days for a cash prize to reach your bank account, plus up to 7 more days for payments over US$10,000. Verification checks can add time, and you can submit one redemption request per 24 hours.

How do I get free Sweeps Coins at Chumba?

Claim the Daily Bonus once every 24 hours, enter giveaways on Chumba’s Facebook page, build a login streak for Wild Chests, or use the online Entry Request, which gives 5 Sweeps Coins per valid request.

Which states can’t play Chumba Casino?

The Sweeps Rules v26.1 (16 September 2026) exclude California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia. Six of those cannot access the site at all; the other ten get Gold Coin play only.

How old do you have to be to play Chumba?

21, or the age of majority in your state if that is higher.

Does Chumba Casino have an app?

Yes. Chumba Casino: Games & Slots from VGW Malta Limited went live on the US App Store on 14 October 2026. On Android, the Terms refer to an APK rather than a Google Play app, and the Chumba Lite app on Google Play is a separate free-to-play game with no prizes.
