BitStarz Casino Review: Blocked by ACMA (Status Update)

BitStarz is blocked in Australia. ACMA, the federal regulator, named it on 18 February 2021 among the illegal offshore gambling sites it had asked Australian internet providers to block, and 12 BitStarz domains are on ACMA’s published blocked list, including bitstarz.com and bitstarz28.com (checked 16 October 2026). We no longer recommend BitStarz to anyone in Australia. This review now covers what happened, what it means if you still have an account, and where to find casinos we review that do accept Australians.

Fair warning, Bros: this page has changed. Our old BitStarz review called it “a legit online casino” because of its Curaçao licence. None of that matters once the regulator has blocked a site, so the rating and links are gone and the page now sticks to dated facts.

Why ACMA Blocked BitStarz

Online casino games and online pokies cannot legally be offered to people in Australia. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 makes that an offence for the operator, not the player, and bans the advertising too. ACMA polices the Act, and when an investigation finds an offshore site in breach it asks Australian internet service providers to block it. By 24 September 2026 the regulator counted 1,822 illegal gambling and affiliate sites blocked since it began in November 2019.

BitStarz was part of the batch ACMA announced on 18 February 2021. 7Bit Casino, GetSlots, Golden Star Casino, GunsBet, iLucki, Joo Casino, King Billy and Syndicate Casino were named in that release too, and their reviews carry the same status now. The list now holds 12 addresses for the brand. That pattern usually means the casino keeps switching to fresh mirror domains as the old ones are blocked, and ACMA keeps adding the mirrors as it finds them. The block is not new: it dates back to February 2021, and our review should have caught up with it long before now.

Why the Site May Still Open for You

ACMA’s blocks are applied by each internet provider against specific addresses, and offshore casinos rotate between mirror domains, so a blocked brand can still open on some connections. That tells you nothing about whether it is allowed to serve you. It is not, and the risks below apply either way.

Using a VPN or picking another country at sign-up is a bad idea. Most offshore terms say a false location voids winnings, and you would be giving the casino a ready-made reason to refuse a payout.
