We no longer recommend Winz.io to Australian players, because ACMA has blocked it. The regulator’s media release of 16 June 2022 named Winz.io among offshore casinos it had found breaching the Interactive Gambling Act, and winz.io is on ACMA’s published blocked list (checked 16 October 2026). Below you’ll find the dated status, what to do with any money still in an account, and the casinos we have rechecked as alternatives.
Time for a straight answer, Bros. Our old Winz.io review said the writer felt “obliged to recommend Winz.io Casino”. We have pulled the rating and every sign-up link, and rebuilt the page from ACMA’s own records.
The alternatives listed at the top of this page all accepted Australians and were not on ACMA’s blocked list when we checked in October 2026. None holds an Australian licence, because Australia does not license online casinos. If gambling is causing you stress, call Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858, free and any time.

Why ACMA Blocked Winz.io
Here is the short version of the law. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 bans offering online casino games and online pokies to Australians, and Australia issues no licences for them, so every online casino that takes Australian players is offshore and outside the Act. ACMA, the regulator, investigates those sites and asks local internet providers to block the ones it finds in breach. As of 24 September 2026 it had blocked 1,822 since November 2019.
Winz.io was part of the batch ACMA announced on 16 June 2022. The same release also covered Abo Casino, Jet Casino and KatsuBet, which we used to review as well. The block is not new: it dates back to June 2022, and our review should have caught up with it long before now.
Why the Site May Still Open for You
Blocking is carried out by internet providers, not by the casino, so it does not catch every connection. If you see ACMA’s “website blocked” page, the domain is blocked. If you do not, your provider may not have applied the block yet, or you may have reached a mirror that is not on the list. Neither makes the casino legal to offer its games in Australia.
Using a VPN or picking another country at sign-up is a bad idea. Most offshore terms say a false location voids winnings, and you would be giving the casino a ready-made reason to refuse a payout.
Still Holding a Balance at Winz.io?
Plenty of Aussies opened accounts before the block. If that is you, here is the order we would tackle it in.
- Stop depositing. Any new deposit adds to the amount at risk, so switch off saved cards and auto top-ups too.
- Take screenshots of your balance, pending withdrawals, bonus status and transaction history, with dates.
- Deal with any active bonus. Bonus money usually locks your balance until wagering is complete. If you only want your cash, ask support in writing to cancel the bonus first.
- Get verification done early. Offshore casinos hold payouts until ID, address and payment checks clear, so upload clear copies once and keep a record of when you sent them.
- Mind the withdrawal caps. Check the daily, weekly and monthly limits in the cashier or terms before you request a large amount, because a big balance may come out in instalments.
- Put the request in writing. Use live chat or email rather than phone, and save the transcripts.
- Know the dispute route. No Australian regulator, ombudsman or tribunal can order an offshore casino to pay. Our old review named a licence from Curaçao; if the casino still shows a licence in its footer, that regulator’s complaints process is the only formal route left. If you paid by card, ask your bank about its dispute process, but do not expect a chargeback to succeed on gambling losses you authorised.
BetStop, the National Self-Exclusion Register, does not cover offshore casinos, so if you want out for good, ask Winz.io to close and exclude your account directly. For free, confidential support, Gambling Help Online is on 1800 858 858. Our responsible gaming page lists more services.
Our Old Winz.io Review, Corrected
Our earlier review made the following points. We list them so returning readers can see what has changed, not as a current description of Winz.io, and we have not reverified them for this update.
- Operator: Dama N.V.
- Licence: Curaçao
- Launched: 2020
- Welcome offer: the Wheel of Winz, worth up to A$10,000, and free spins with no wagering on winnings
- Verdict: Said the writer felt “obliged to recommend Winz.io Casino”
However the licence is described, it does not make Winz.io legal for Australians. No foreign licence permits online casino games or pokies to be offered here, and the block shows ACMA has found Winz.io in breach.
Where to Look Instead
Every brand on our Australian pages has to pass the same checks, and we rerun them regularly:
- None of its domains is on ACMA’s published blocked-websites list.
- The brand is not named in any of ACMA’s blocking releases.
- Its Australian lobby loads from an Australian connection and Australia is not on its restricted-country list.
- There is no “confirm you are outside Australia” declaration or similar trap in its pages.
The full reviews of OscarSpin, Nine Casino, Jet4Bet and Goldex explain what each one offers Australians and where the catches are. All four passed our October 2026 checks; all four are offshore. Our safer casino guide covers the warning signs, and the Australian reviews hub shows the status of every brand we have rechecked.
Winz.io FAQ
Is Winz.io blocked in Australia?
Yes. ACMA named Winz.io in its media release of 16 June 2022, and its domain is on the published blocked list (checked 16 October 2026).
Is it illegal for me to play at Winz.io?
The IGA offence belongs to the operator, not the player. But you have no Australian regulator to help in a dispute, access can disappear at any time, and the casino’s own terms may let it void winnings if you are in a restricted location.
How do I withdraw my money from Winz.io?
Stop depositing, screenshot your balance, cancel any active bonus, complete verification and request the withdrawal in writing, keeping within the cashier limits. Save every support transcript.
Is Winz.io licensed?
Our old review gave the licence as Curaçao, with the operator named as Dama N.V.. We have not rechecked that for this update, and no offshore licence makes online casino games legal to offer in Australia.
Which casinos can I use instead of Winz.io?
OscarSpin, Nine Casino, Jet4Bet and Goldex accepted Australians and were not blocked or named by ACMA when we checked in October 2026. All are offshore with no Australian licence, so read their reviews and terms first.
